Regional Osteoporosis Conference & IOF Osteoporosis Diagnosis Course

The IOF Osteoporosis Diagnosis Course with Densitometry Certification was held for the second time in Hong Kong on 18 and 19th May 2007, preceding the 8th Regional Osteoporosis Conference. With the generous funding from the IOF and locate support from The Osteoporosis Society of Hong Kong and The Osteoporosis Centre of The University of Hong Kong, the Diagnosis Course was well attended by participants from the south east Asian countries. The course was conducted by Prof. Jan Stepan, Prof. Nicholas Pocock , Prof. Annie Kung and Dr. T. P. Ip. About 60% of the participants achieved the pass mark for certification. The 8th Regional Osteoporosis Conference covered 15 lectures delivered by 7 world-renowned speakers and 6 regional speakers and it had attracted over 300 participants. REPORT
The second IOF Osteoporosis Diagnosis Course with Densitometry Certification was held in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, preceding the 8th Regional Osteoporosis Conference on 18 to 20th May 2007.
The diagnosis course was kindly supported by the IOF funding, The Osteoporosis Society of Hong Kong and The Osteoporosis Centre of The University of Hong Kong. This year, over 80 participants from five Asian countries attended the Diagnosis Course. Prof. Jan Stepan, Prof. Nicholas Pocock, Prof. Annie Kung and Dr. T. P. Ip, experts in the field of osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment, were invited to be the course speakers.
The 8th Regional Osteoporosis Conference is endorsed by IOF and jointly organized by The Osteoporosis Society of Hong Kong, The Osteoporosis Centre and Research Centre of Heart, Brain, Hormone & Healthy Aging of The University of Hong Kong, and co-hosted by The Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons and The Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association. The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr. Shane Solomon, Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority, and his opening keynote highlighted the prevalence of osteoporosis in Hong Kong. Seven world-renowned and 6 regional speakers were invited to the conference to share their experience and expertise with over 300 participants from different countries.
